'The Musagete is dedicated to Balanchine, the great choreographer. This is my admiration for him, the homage of the Russian ballet to the individual who masterfully developed and perfected the Russian traditions of ballet and made possible the transition from the 19th to the 21st century.
This is not a biographical ballet, but it shows the personality of the choreographer, who spent his life in the ballet studio, where everything was based on creativity and the creativity originated in his own life. I immersed into the world of Balanchine’s ballets, was amazed by his personality and could never break free of this enchantment.
The score of the Musagetes is based on Bach’s music. The emotions, moulded into a perfect shape, a polyphonic thinking and the link between the spiritual and earthly - these are the elements which bring together Bach and Balanchine.' |
