Anna Karenina returns to St. Petersburg
On March 26 and 27 Anna Karenina will be performed at the Alexandrinsky Theatre. Last time this balled admired by millions of spectators was presented in St. Petersburg a year ago. British ballet lovers will be the next to see this production: in mid-April Eifman Ballet will visit London with Anna Karenina and Rodin.
Set in 2005 to the music of Tchaikovsky Anna Karenina is one of the most successful productions in Eifman Ballet’s repertoire. It has been performed to critical and public acclaim in Russia, USA, Australia, UK, Germany, Holland, Spain, France and many other countries.
On March 27 the company's new soloist Lilia Lishchuk will make her debut with Eifman Ballet. She will perform the role of Anna, the leading female role in the production. Lishchuk joined Eifman Ballet in 2013. She was previously a member of the Mariinsky Ballet where performed the following repertoire: Lilac Fairy, Tenderness Fairy, Candide Fairy in The Sleeping Beauty; Grand pas in Raymonda; Grand pas in La Bayadère; Chiarina, Estrella in Le Carnaval etc.
