On January, 14th the President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev has visited Boris Eifman's "Anna Karenina" ballet that was performed by soloists and dancers of Abay State Academic Opera and Ballet Theatre at Palace of Peace and Concord in Astana. The same day Boris Eifman was awarded the honorary title "Honored worker of Kazakhstan".

As the press service of Nursultan Nazarbayev reports, the honorary title was awarded "for outstanding achievements in the training of creative personnel for Kazakhstan, a major contribution to the strengthening of cultural and humanitarian cooperation between Kazakhstan and Russia." Boris Eifman thanked Nursultan Nazarbayev and noted that this title isn't only an honor, but also a serious responsibility. The choreographer said that he will continue to make a contribution to the development of Kazakhstan's ballet and also expressed his admiration for the capital of Kazakhstan.
The premiere of Boris Eifman's "Anna Karenina" was held at Abay State Academic Opera and Ballet Theatre in Alma-Ata in June 2011 In autumn 2010 the troupe of the same company presented to the Kazakh audience another ballet of Boris Eifman - "Red Giselle".
